Personalised Inclusive Employment Outcome Measure. (PIEOM) Stage Two
With the peer-reviewed publication of the PIEOM domains, we have begun preliminary work engaging with the community for their input into success factors. The Personalised Inclusive Employment Outcome Measure (PIEOM) is a research-driven assessment tool designed to evaluate and track employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities in a highly individualised and person-centred manner. Unlike traditional employment metrics that focus solely on job placement and retention, PIEOM captures the quality, sustainability, and personal relevance of employment outcomes based on each individual’s unique goals, preferences, and support needs.
CDER Research has developed PIEOM to address critical gaps in existing employment outcome measurement frameworks, ensuring that success is not only defined by job attainment but also by personal satisfaction, workplace inclusion, and career progression. The research behind PIEOM focuses on:
1. Customisation of Employment Success Metrics – Moving beyond standard measures (e.g., job placement rates) to assess meaningful employment engagement, job satisfaction, skill development, and career alignment.
2. Integration with Customised Employment (CE) and NDIS – Ensuring that PIEOM aligns with NDIS participant goals, DES performance indicators, and ACRE-aligned CE models.
3. Longitudinal Tracking of Employment Journeys – Capturing short-term, mid-term, and long-term employment outcomes, considering factors such as workplace accommodations, career growth, and income progression.
4. Psychometric Validation and Evidence Base—Conduct rigorous research to establish reliability, validity, and effectiveness in measuring employment outcomes for people with diverse disabilities.
5. Guiding Policy and Service Improvement – Providing NDIS providers, DES agencies, and policymakers with data-driven insights to enhance employment services and funding models. By developing the Personalised Inclusive Employment Outcome Measure, CDER Research aims to set a new benchmark for evaluating employment success in disability employment services, ensuring that every job outcome reflects an individual’s aspirations, abilities, and long-term career potential.
